Air Fryer Spicy Protein Kale Chips
We're not trying to replace regular chips, but traditional kale chips aren't so great. These guys are little spicy, a lot crunchy, and a great way to use the kale that may or may not be wilting in your fridge. Plus 20g of protein if you eat the whole batch, which we might do every time we make these.
Ingredients
- 1 medium bunch kale chopped into 1-inch pieces
- 2 eggs whisked
- 1 scoop unflavored ESSENTIAL Protein Powder
- 2 tbsp panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Place kale in a large bowl and pour whisked egg over it. Use tongs to lightly coat the kale in the egg wash, then shake over bowl to remove excess egg wash, and place into fresh bowl.
Mix ESSENTIAL, garlic powder, panko bread crumbs, salt, cayenne pepper together in separate bowl. Add to egg washed kale, then use tongs to evenly coat kale in dry ingredients.
Spread kale out in air fryer. Bake for 4 minutes at 350*, shake basket, then bake another 4-5 minutes. Then stir the chips up. If you want them crispier, shake them again and add minutes onto time until they are as you want them!
Don't have an air fryer? Bake chips at 350* on a baking sheet for 8 minutes, shake the tray to move the chips, and then bake for another 8-10 minutes. Make sure the kale leaves aren't crowded or they will sweat and not turn crispy!
